Hydra-Cell™ Pumps have long been considered the "pump of choice" for car wash manufacturer's and operators - since the '70's. The unique Hydra-Cell™ Pump was actually designed with the car washing industry in-mind.
Why?
The inventor of the Hydra-Cell™ foresaw the trend for reclaiming wash water and reusing it more than 35 years ago. Piston and plunger pumps fail frequently (and often unexpectedly) due to particles in reclaimed wash fluid that wear away their mechanical seals. He thought that if he could figure a way to reliably pump reclaimed wash water at high pressures that would hold-up to the rigorous demands of the car washing industry, customers would beat a path to his door.
Guess What? ... They did!
The Hydra-Cell™ Pump was invented, subsequently launching the Wanner Engineering Company more than 30 years ago. Since then applications for Hydra-Cell's™ have expanded into the industrial marketplace, mainly due to their unique sealless design and ability to run dry.

Hydra-Cell™ Pumps are used to pump reclaimed water at high pressures back onto the vehicles during the washing stage. Some of our customers supply single pump systems to provide up to 20 GPM at pressures to 1000 PSI like the one shown to the left. For larger flow rates they'll supply two pumps systems like the one shown to the right. Hydra-Cell™ Pumps are also used as "prep-gun" pumps. The "prep-gun pumps" are used for preparing vehicles before entering the wash. Operators will often walk around the vehicle, spraying the tires, bumpers and wheel wells to knock-off the heavy soil. Since the pumps are being turned on and off continuously, it's a very demanding application. Prep guns will also often use reclaimed water which would wear-out the seals of piston pumps. If you want a reliable pump that doesn't require much maintenance, a pump that is built for decades of service, than you want a Hydra-Cell™ !! |
