Hydra-Cell™ Pumps are very well suited for pumping reclaimed machine tool coolants because they do not have cups, packing or mechanical seals (all bearing surfaces are isolated from the fluid being pumped), which is usually the main cause of failures in other pumps. Unlike less efficient centrifugal or gear pumps that require wide tolerances in order to handle dirty fluids, Hydra-Cells™ are 85-90% efficient and often require less horsepower than other coolant pumps. Expensive pre-filtration equipment required by other pumps could be eliminated because the coolant only needs to be filtered to a particle size that can be put through your machine, which can generally be achieved by using a standard 80 mesh strainer to catch large chips. Hydra-Cell’s™ will pump any type of coolant that you use, including oil, synthetic and water based coolants.
