An Example of an Innovative Multiple Pumping Chamber Metering System
The manufacture of insulating foam requires precise proportions of catalyst and resin.   A spray gun is typically inserted into a wall and the catalyst/resin mixture is injected through a special nozzle tip at high pressures.  The resulting mixture instantly turns into foam which quickly expands to fill-in spaces between walls, insulating them.

One company that we work with had used two Hydra-Cell™ Pumps mounted on a double shafted motor skid for insulation systems.  Their overall pump package was cumbersome, especially when you consider it may have to be carried by two people to the top floors of high rise apartment buildings and skyscrapers.

Their systems performed well, although they were bulky and costly.  TPS made a courtesy call to this customer  and suggested the multiple pumping chamber approach.

The result?
Our customer has cut the overall weight of their pumping system by 60% and it can now be handled by a single operator.  In addition to reducing the weight, their overall costs were significantly reduced because they could now use a standard motor and only required a single pump.

Besides the streamlining of the design of their system and getting costs in-line, they feel that product mixing has been improved due to a more consistent catalyst-to-resin ratio.
